Life Enrichment Director
Deb Peavey is a registered art therapist (ATR) and licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) who has found her true passion working with seniors in the Life Enrichment field. She had served as Life Enrichment Director at Mason Wright from 2016 to 2018, becoming a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) during that time, when she left to take on the role of Community Life Director at Loomis Village. After gaining invaluable organizational, management and program development skills there, Deb made the decision in September 2020 to return to Mason Wright, where her primary focus—the hands-on enrichment of the lives of elders—can be fully realized.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and graphic design at the University of Massachusetts in the mid-1980s, she spent the next 10 years in the design field, concluding that chapter of her career as the international publishing director for Mirage Studios, creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
After spending several years at home to raise her two daughters, Deb went back to school and earned her Master’s Degree in Art Therapy and Counseling at Springfield College.
In 2011, Deb earned her license as a mental health counselor (LMHC) while working at River Valley Counseling Center, an outpatient mental health agency based in Chicopee and Holyoke, Massachusetts. Working mostly in schools and on an outreach basis, she provided cognitive behavioral therapy as well as other traditional mental health therapies and art therapy.
Deb’s work in the Senior Living arena combines her passion for creativity, enriching the lives of seniors, and mentoring interns. Helping aging adults to remain as engaged and independent as possible, for as long as possible, is a goal about which she feels passionately.
